Spanning the better part of 19 years, The Amateurs have been playing reggae across the southeast almost as long as reggae has been around. Headed by lead singer/percussionist and founding member Shep, the band has made its home in Greenville, NC, Wilmington, NC (site of the well-known Reggae Express Shop), and now in Raleigh at the Latta House, one of the nation's first Colleges for African Americans. You won't find many reggae fans across NC who don't know Shep.

GENERAL TOP RANK'N:
Hailing from Charleston, SC, Rank'n serves up top notch dancehall and singjay lyrics from a conscious roots perspective. Along with the Jah Creation backing band, Geecheelocks (as he is sometimes referred to) can turn out any crowd with his rhythmic lyrical style. He is currently working on a new CD with Jah Creation and his very own Gullah Roots Band set for release in the fall. Email Rank'n at topra6422@aol.com for booking and concert info. Watch for his new clothing line, Geechee Gear coming soon.

JAH WITNESS:
"There's no justice, it's just us." From parts unknown, Jah Witness travels the earth as a messenger, spreading the word, sound, and power of reggae culture. Highly skilled as a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, binghi drumsmith, craftsman, farmer, and philosopher it seems he shall never grow weary of his life's work. He can be found as far north as Vermont, and as far south as the Florida Keys. He appeared in our circle just long enough to record the song "Criminals" for the Jah Creation CD. And then, just as quickly as he was here, he was gone.
